The changing season finds Jakob's Night again going through some transitions. June 9 will mark drummer Tim Nelson's final show. At this point we're in the market for a drummer with impeccable time, the ability to play soft and also rock out, and most importantly a heart for serving the Lord and spreading the gospel through music. If you or anyone you know fit that description, contact us immediately at jakobsnight@yahoo.com.

Even if you're not a drummer and not friends with Dennis Chambers, you can still help us out. Here's how: pray the Lord's will be done with this band. AND, come out and see all of Tim's last shows. Last week at Washington Spanish we rocked out and had two guests: Jason Dehaney on sax and Elfred Deynes on keys. What a blast it was. We promise more special guests at upcoming shows, so come out and support!

Jakob's Night would like to wish our good friend Jeremy Robinson the best of blessings as he moves on to other endeavors. We have many fond memories of Jeremy's six years as a member of Jakob's Night, and we'll miss him.

Wow. We just finished up a great weekend of concerts with minneapolis-based Christian artist, Lauren Redpath. First we played at The Well in College Park and then a packed show at Highland View Academy Church. Thanks to all involved, it was amazing.

There have a been a few additions to the JN family over the past few months. Lester welcomed his second child, another boy, to the Ortiz family. Little Caleb looks a lot like his dad and apparently has been blessed with similar singing ability. Also added, in a different way, is a new lighting system. These lights change everything for us, helping set the proper mood for each song. Special thanks to Steve, Rhonda, Warren, and Drew for making this all happen.

Last but not least, join us by the White House Christmas tree on December 23 at 7pm. JN has been given the opportunity to perform a set of traditional Christmas songs for the Pageant of Peace. Don't miss this chance to see JN playing outside the box, rocking Christmas tunes in the nation's capital.

This Sunday, Jakob's Night will be in the beautiful Catoctin Mountains for a benefit concert for Ian Rogers. Please check out this link to find out more about Ian and his touching story.

We are honored to be a part of helping out by rocking out! We would also be honored if you showed up not only to support us, but also this wonderful family!

The benefit will be held at ThorpeWood, an outdoor education center near Thurmont, Maryland. Admission is $5 and free for ages 4 and under. Jakob's Night will go on at 3:00pm and 5:00pm, both sets being 45 minutes. Please come out for a relaxing, fun afternoon in the mountains. There will be plenty of activities for the kids (face painting, sand art, etc.). Bring a picnic supper to enjoy while you are there!

ThorpeWood is located at 12805 Mink Farm Rd., Thurmont, MD. For directions visit http://www.thorpewood.org (really, because they're not super easy). If you have any questions, contact Crystal Draper at 301-766-0838 or Nancy Potts at 301-865-6092.

Hey everybody, things are stirring in the Jakob's Night camp, and we are excited! We had a great time in Ohio at The Resistance a couple weeks ago and a very successful showcase at The Connection in Kansas City this last weekend (we made the semi-finals by coming in 2nd place in our genre—which put us in the top 24 out of about 140 artists!). With the connections we made there (pun proudly intended), hopefully you will be seeing more of Jakob's Night in the near future!

God bless all of you as we continue to go where he leads us. See you soon!

Thanks to all of you who voted for us to go to CreationFest. We didn't make it all the way, but you all got us to the final round of voting, and (really!) that is the important part for us. Music festivals come along all the time, but it really means so much to us knowing that we have such an awesome, supportive group of fans!

Ok, here's the deal on how to vote us in to CreationFest:
First, you MUST sign up to be a member of hearitfirst.com before you can rate or vote.  You can sign up to be a member at http://www.hearitfirst.com/popup/signup.aspx   You must be LOGGED IN when you try to vote. You will know you are logged in if it says, "Hi" and your name at the top of the page.   Also, rating and voting are completely different.  It's great if you want to rate Jakob's Night (so we have the chance of being listed in the top 5 artists), but you MUST go to the voting page and vote for Jakob's Night.  The voting page is separate from our artist page.  If the pages are loading slowly, be patient.

In round 1, the bands are broken up into 5 groups of 40.  After registering, proceed through each group and you will be able to vote for up to 5 bands in each group.  When you complete the 5 groups, then submit your vote. Your vote WILL NOT COUNT unless you proceed through each group and submit your vote in the end.

I know this is a time committment, but not only will you give us a chance to play at THE BIGGEST Christian music festival in the nation, but you'll also get the chance to hear lots of new Christian artists. Of course, your prayers are always appreciated as well. NOW GO VOTE!!!

Wow! What a great show Friday night at the Well Coffeehouse in College Park, MD. Thanks to all those who came out, and to all those who couldn't make it, who kept us in their prayers. The evening featured some uber-talented folks jamming for open mic, some hilarious drama, and some rockin' out JN style.

In other news, we've been battling busy schedules and the everyday responsibilities that come with being grown ups...booo. But, we somehow manage to squeeze in a few practices here and there, which give us a chance to focus on writing new tunes and tweaking our old ones.

Also, we're prayerfully deciding which artist showcases and music conferences to attend this summer. There's an indie fest in Kansas in May, and then there's GMA in the Rockies in August. We'd love to go to both, but the band's coffers aren't exactly stuffed at the moment. Please pray for us regarding these decisions. We firmly believe the more people we can reach with the Gospel, the better, and these events will help us do just that.

2/19/06 - Concert this week!
Hey everybody. Lately, many have inquired about our current status--it has not changed! That's good news for us and hopefully all of you. We have slightly cut back on concerts for the past couple months, in order to seek other avenues of ministry and promotion. If you're just dying, however, to come out and see us (as we are to see all of you), please come out to the Brooklyn Bridge Coffeehouse this Friday night, Feb. 24 for a rockin' good time! The doors open at 7:30 and the concert starts at 8:00. Their address is: 901 Pontiac Avenue @ 9th Street and Pontiac Avenue, Brooklyn, Md. 21225. Please come and hang out with us. You'll definitely find something you need Friday night--whether it's jammin' music, fun people, or just someone to talk or pray with you. We hope to see you there. Tell your friends!

What does Jakob's Night need for Christmas?..PRESENCE!!

Ok, that was cheesy, but it is very true. Our best and most blessed concerts are when you show up in droves!! When you find time in your busy shopping schedules, please come and celebrate with us. Listed above are some upcoming concert dates for you.

If you can't make it to any of these shows, pass this email on to a friend who might not know about us. Friends and fans are the fuel that keeps us loving what we do.

Of course, there's no better stocking stuffer than a Jakob's Night CD. As always, these are available at our shows, at the Potomac Adventist - Book and Health Food Store in Silver Spring, Md., or right here at jakobsnight.com. If you want more than just a cd, we also have stickers, T-shirts, and even temporary tattoos for all you part-time rebels out there.

You might also want to think about donating to Jakob's Night through our tax-deductible foundation. Simply click here. This is a great way for you to feed into the ministry of Jakob's Night, and support the mission of our foundation's parent company, The National Heritage Foundation.

Thanks so much for all your support this year! Have a merry Christmas and we hope to see you sometime soon. Jesus is the reason for the season!!

Woo-hoo!...we can finally give Jakob’s Night fans the news they have been waiting three years to hear…we are beginning work on our second CD! As always, God is behind this one. During Saturday morning worship at a recent concert trip to Hershey, Pa., (Journal) the band sat on the Smiths’ (the generous family who let us take over their house while we were in town) deck and recommitted this music ministry to Him, asserting that we would trust Him for everything we were hoping for and anticipating. The following Monday, we got an email from Barry Blair, a Dove-award winning Nashville producer (and former member of Audio Adrenaline) requesting to record our next project! After some prayer and some God-orchestrated circumstances, we scheduled time in December to record our second album with Barry. It will include songs that have become audience favorites, such as “The Return,” “Compromise,” “Heal Me,” and “Down on My Knees.” We hope to be able to have it in your hands by the beginning of May of next year!

Of course, we still need money to get this project completed, mixed, mastered, duplicated, packaged, and distributed, so please take the time to make a donation to Jakob’s Night while you’re on this site. Just click on “Donate” and follow the directions; it couldn’t be easier! If each fan on our mailing list donates at least $20, we should be covered. Remember, your donation is tax deductible, so if you want to get in those donations before the end of the year, you can both feel good about contributing to this powerful music ministry AND get a tax deduction for doing so!

Thank you all so much for your consistent support, and please keep the band in prayer as they travel and put their hearts into this new recording. Please also keep Barry, our new producer, in prayer as he works on this project with us.

Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless!

5/14/04 - JN News

It's been a couple of months since our last update, so there are a lot of new things happening in the Jakob's Night camp. First of all, check out our recently updated 'pics' page, especially if you like sweaty men making grimacing faces!

There's also a new entry in the 'journal' section, posted by Tim. He documents our Easter weekend trip to the Virginia Beach area where we played two concerts, had a radio interview, and provided praise for Calvary Chapel of Newport News' Easter program

Just today Mo posted 12 new concerts on our 'shows' page. Plenty of opportunities to come experience a Jakob's Night show; we sincerely hope to see you at one of these shows so we can worship together in God's glory!

3/17/04 - Upcoming Shows
Hi everybody! We just wanted to invite you to come out to a Jakob's Night concert this Friday at the Hilltop Cafe in Westminster, Maryland (about an hour from DC). The show starts at 7:30, and should be lots of fun. We have missed you all in our brief, job-travel-related hiatus, and are excited to have this show to look forward to... it will be even better if our wonderful fans show up to sing along and worship with us! The address of Hilltop Cafe is 30 North Cranberry Road, Westminster, MD 21157, and www.mapquest.com will give you pretty easy directions.

Don't forget that next Saturday is the anniversary cookout at Fishlocker Cafe in Chester, MD, starting at around 2:00 pm; those of you who have been there before will surely want to go to this cookout (and for those who haven't, it's a great introduction)--the food is great, and the people are even better! We're not playing, but someone else is, and it will be a fun day in good company.

If you want to catch a Jakob's Night gig when you have finished stuffing your faces at the cookout, come join us at the Edgemere Bible Church Coffeehouse in Edgemere, MD, at 7:00 pm. You can get directions and more information at www.edgemerebiblechurch.org.

We look forward to seeing you all out in Westminster and Edgemere! Keep checking the Jakob's Night website for concert updates (www.jakobsnight.com) and to see what's going on in April. Have a great week!

1/9/04 - New Website Goes Live!
It's finally here! The new Jakob's Night website! Feel free to look around and let us know what you think. Over the next couple of weeks Mo from Gasolyne Media will be putting the finishing touches on the site. It's been a long process but well worth the wait as you can see. We're very thankful that Mo has been working with us; he's definitely got the skillz to pay the billz!

Check out the Shows link to see where we're going to be playing, plus all the places that we've played in the last two years. We've had so much fun playing for all you people out there and we're ready to make 2004 our busiest year yet! There are some really exciting things on the horizon for Jakob's Night. God has really blessed this ministry. Keep checking back with the site to hear what God has in store for us and you.

If you're feeling philanthropic, click on the Donate link and make a tax deductible donation to the Jakob's Night Foundation. Thank you everyone who donated in 2003! Because of all the donations, we were able to purchase a 1993 Ford E-350 Conversion van. It fits seven and pulls our trailer with ease-that's off the hook! No more taking five cars to a gig!

Interested in worshiping with Jakob's Night? Click on the Contact link and give us a shout.
